About Me

Lisa Lam, Esq.
Education
JD, Stanford Law School
MA in Clinical Psychology, Boston University
BA in Psychology, University of California, Los Angeles
I earned my law degree from Stanford Law School and began my legal career with the firm, O’Melveny & Myers. Prior to law school, I was in a graduate counseling program and provided support to patients at the Boston VA Medical Center—an experience that shaped my empathetic, people-centered approach to professional life. After O'Melveny, I spent time in-house, gaining valuable insight into the dynamics of corporate legal departments. In 2011, I transitioned into legal recruiting, where I’ve spent over a decade placing attorneys at AmLaw 100/200 firms, elite boutiques, and top-tier companies.

Many of my candidates go through a process of self-discovery during their search, and I’ve found my psychology background to be particularly helpful in supporting them through the emotional aspects of career change. I take a thoughtful and relationship-driven approach to each search—always aiming to make placements that align with both client needs and candidate aspirations. My work allows me to combine my legal background with a passion for talent development and strategic hiring. I work with attorneys across a range of practice areas, leveraging my industry knowledge to make successful, long-term matches. My candidates and I develop deep and authentic relationships as we explore opportunities together. I draw not only upon my own career experiences, but also on the insights I’ve gained from working with hundreds of attorneys over the years. Because I’ve navigated major career transitions myself, I understand the anxiety and uncertainty that often accompany a job search. That perspective allows me to truly empathize with my candidates—and to guide them with clarity, honesty, and support. My goal is to ensure that no candidate ever feels alone in the process.

Outside of recruiting, I enjoy hikes with my rescue dog, watching YouTube videos to improve my Mandarin, and discovering new parts of Los Angeles with my family. I am an active volunteer with the Stanford Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the UCLA Alumni Association, and I formerly served as a volunteer career counselor for Stanford Law School and for the Jewish Vocational Service.
